Reading To The Kids
| Add caption |
Today our class went to the library and read our story to the little kids. We got some of our information from the zoo. Tama was reading the book on the computer. The easy part was getting a partner and reading the story to them. I had fun reading with the kids.

Our first film festival
Our school Glen Innes has just joined the Manaiakalani cluster of school and we had got our very frist netbooks last term. Every year we are going to make a movie for the festival to share our learning. This is our first movie that we have made in the Manaiakalan Film Festival. Our movie is called GI Boot Camp. We finished our movie in the holiday at school. I was very happy when we had made our movie and look forward to see it on the big screen.

The Big Jump
WALT: write a story in sequence.
The Big Jump
Yesterday the weather was fascinating in the early dawn. Now he can do his big jump out of space. He was afraid because he wanted to break the world record.
Josh and his crew flew to New Zealand in a UFO. When they landed in New Zealand they started the big jump. When he was going up he had butterflies in his stomach.
“Josh are you ready to jump?” say Mission control .
Josh replied, “Yes I am ready to jump”
“Jack ready when you are, to jump”
Josh jumped out of the balloon and he was screaming. Half way down Josh said, “I feel like passing out”.
Mission control was scared because they thought he probably would not land. They had no control of Josh and that’s why they were scared.
When Josh pulled his parachute, Mission control was all over the moon. When Josh landed he landed perfectly. Everyone came out and hugged him.
Josh was so happy that he kissed the ground. Josh now knows not to be scared of heights and always try new things.

Food and Culture
Walt:write a report.
Food is very important to people so they can survive.
Taro came from Hawaii and grows in the Pacific Islands. The climate needed for taro is hot, humid, and heavy rain. Taro grows in paddy fields and in abundance. The soil has to be marshy and wet. Taro can grow anywhere like on a mountain and close to the sea. Taro has more carbohydrates than potatoes. Taro is a staple diet to the Pacific Islanders. Taro is also good for babies.
Kumara came from Central South America. Kumara was a staple diet for the early Maori. Kumara has more carbohydrates than potatoes. Kumara grows in the North Island of New Zealand. Kumara grew prolifically in New Zealand because of the temperate climate. For kumara the soil has to dry and fertile. Kumara is very good for babies.
I think that food is so important to people so they can survive. There are many different foods because people have moved around.

Survey and Report
WALT:write a report about a survey.
Last month I found out the kids and teachers favourite All Black player at Glen Innes School. I went around the school and asked the children and teacher.Fifty
children and some teachers were surveyed.
I used excel to draw my 3D graph. My data was represented in a column graph.
I surmised that Dan Carter is the most favourite All Black player. Sonny Bill Williams came 2th and Ma'a Nonu came
3th with the least liked being John Kirwan. I think that John Kirwan was the least liked because most of the children don’t know him. Maybe he will be known because he will be the Blues coach next year. I think that Dan Carter got the most votes because he is a very good kicker.I think that most people like him because he is so fast.
